Six Sentence Sunday, Apr. 3

A bit from Forget-Me-Not. Lara and Jacob are spending the night in the Minnesota woods, on the run from the bad guys:

Idly, she let her thoughts drift. Lying there in Jacob's sheltering embrace, Lara slowly become aware of the hum of insects, the lapping of the lake at the land's edge, and the haunting wail of a distant loon, echoing across the open water. It was strange, she reflected, that such a dangerous man could make her feel so safe.
"We'd better get some rest. Tomorrow's going to be a long day. We have a long trip to Chicago ahead of us."

Great description, put me right in the scene. Lovely snippet.

you paint a lovely scene.

Love the snippet. But, you might want to change one of the longs in the last sentence because they are close together. Like use hard day or tough day etc instead of long day?
