Six Sentence Sunday, Mar. 13

A little drama for Six Sentence Sunday this week. Jacob, the amnesiac hero of Forget-Me-Not, is struggling to put together the pieces of who he is. He and Lara do some Internet research and discover a newspaper article detailing an incident from his career on the Chicago Police Dept. He learns that he resigned from the force after a controversial police-action shooting where his fellow officer was killed. Jacob returned fire, killing the assailant:

Strangely, Jacob felt no anger at the man who had shot him and killed his fellow officer. Instead, reading about these events, he felt nothing, as if they'd happened to someone else. Hell, if they'd happened to someone else, he'd feel shock, pity, or some other emotion. Instead, he just felt blank inside. "I guess that's how my police career ended," he said, so quietly that he saw Lara duck her head to hear him.
He had killed a man, and he didn't even remember it.
